Doing one focus task per day or doing multiple in a limited time each?

I want to know which works for you guys better. I'm currently doing the latter and as helpful as it is on my day-to-day tasks, it's not that progressive on the more significant tasks like skills improvement, etc. I've always read from renowned artists that they would spend 8 hours upwards of creating daily.
