I have looked at Playas, Montanita, Salinas, Manta, Mompiche, Quito, and Cuenca, though i know the latter 2 are not coastal cities...

I like Salinas alot because very low cost upscale lodging. Stunning modern 2 bedroom apartments with beach views and wifi for like $600-900 a month... seems to be a good digital nomad spot for those who enjoy the beach but also appreciate a city feel.
