Work Exchange while Digital Nomading

Anybody here have experience doing work exchanges (such as Workaway or HelpX) while doing remote work?

I know it’s possible but just want tips and stories from people who have done it. The host I will potentially work for has high speed internet, it’s a hostel. I’ll only be working 5 hours a day 5x a week and it’s nothing gruesome or mind tiring. It’s pretty easy work that is in exchange for free room/board and meals.
